Scrappy Trip

The Circle (Bubble) Quilt is finished and off to be long arm quilted by Sister Beth.
I was not able to get a picture of it before it left, so we'll have to wait for it's return for the photoshoot.  And I still need to decide on a name.
I love how it turned out!

Not so with Mrs. Scrappy Trip.  I think there are too many different fabrics or not enough contrast or too much contrast or just ugly fabric! My eyes hurt when I look at this!  I am trying to get through my UFO's so I think I'll do four more blocks and call this puppy DONE!

More Circles!

These circles are very addicting!  I had the 4th of July weekend off, so I went a little circle crazy!
The result:

A rainbow of circles!  Each one I finish is my new favorite!  I saw this circle quilt of Quilting is more Fun than Housework and I love how she off set the circles with her neutral blocks.

I have light green cut out and ready to sew.  Maybe a dark blue as well. I would like to make this bigger than a lap quilt.  Maybe neutral blocks on the sides?  I will have to see how many more colors I can come up with!

Great Balls of Color!

I love these circle log cabins!  The pattern is from Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler Magazine (Spring/Summer 2014).  I intend to use my scraps to make these.  Maybe I will have enough for a rainbow.  For now, this shot of yellow makes me smile.

I used white and light ivory for the background so that the yellow would pop.
A border might be a good idea to square up the block.

These are stars made from material I got from my sister's mother-in-law.  I think they will make a nice Quilt of valor. There are about six different plaids.  They look very much like a Civil War Quilt I saw on the web.  The colors are very subdued so it is great to work on the color balls in between!

WIP Wednesday

Almost done with my Modern Maple Quilt.  I just have to sew down the binding!  In my last post about this quilt, it was heading off to Sister Beth's house to be quilted. I was so proud of myself for getting the striped binding all ready to go.
Unfortunately, I ended up not liking that binding.  It was too busy for the leaves. Beth and I auditioned all of the solids, and decided on Kaffe's shot cotton "Sunshine".  What a great shade of yellow! And I had just enough left to make the binding.

Beth's quilting is beautiful and a perfect choice to compliment the leaves!

I love how the quilting adds texture to the leaves.

usually wait to pick my backing and binding until I am done with piecing the quilt.  Now I remember why!

Bliss

Hello, my name is Susan and I have a fabric addiction!  I know there are many of you saying "Hi Susan"!

I keep trying to use my stash, but then I have to go to MLQ store for coordinating fabric!
Then, of course, I see fabric on sale that is such a deal I have to have it. And I walk out with a pile of fabric to add to my stash! A vicious cycle!

Anyway, getting back to today, I have had this "cheater" fabric from an old line of Bonnie and Camille called "Bliss". So lovely!

I thought they would be pretty as economy blocks. So I went through the stash looking for coordination colors.   I had a few. But went looking for more.

I bought the green and the blue. And then, these polka dots, which are a bit off so may not work.

And then these blues from the "Lexington" Moda line because
1) they were on sale

2) they go with all this fabric

That will one day be made into "Starlight Express" quilt from the book Jelly Rolls
by Pam and Nicky Lintott.

And don't forget these two rolls of neutral stash builders!

Stash builder, another word for addiction.

WIP Maples

I have finished my version of the Modern Maple.  Pattern here.  (Sorry about the poor lighting)!   I really like how the different sized  leaves give a falling effect to the composition!

The perfect backing material, S'more Love!  The colors AND trees!

I even got the binding all ready.  Kaffe Fasset stripes!

All ready to get quilted.
Am I the only one who saves these little triangles from the binding?
I just can't bear to throw them away! They are so cute!
Someday I will find the perfect use for them.
